Home made pork crackling

Hi lovely people!

I brought pork cracklings today yayy! I didn’t want to write today, but my other half’s decided to watch The blade now. I mean right now… He was asking me if I was okay with it and I said yes, however I’m terrified of movies like this, so I have decided to do something else instead. But I’m still in the living room and watching it… Sunday mood has officially killed by Wesley Snipes ???

Back to the pork crackling though, we love it! I used to grow up in a small village where was common to keep livestock such as pigs, ducks, geese, chicken etc. These animals were kept for their meet, and usually in the winter time we were turning the pigs into porkchops if you know what I mean ?. So I learned from my grandmother how to make pork crackling at home. What you need is basically fat or fatty skin from either joint, in this case I bought shoulder joint. The meat went to fulfill another purpose while I was making the cracklings. ? There is an other reason why I do this, I tried to buy cracklings in the store and it made with WHEAT!! So be careful when you are after this in the store. Do it yourself, you won’t regret it. ? Although it takes about 2 hours to cook it. Just saying

The recipe:

What you need is a pork skin and a smaller also deep saucepan.

Separate the skin from the meat, try to cut off as less meat as possible.

Great job for me ?? now we cutting this into stripes and then into same size cubes.

When you done with the chopping, put all of the skins into a COLD sauce pan and put it on the COLD hob then turn the heat on medium.

Stir the thing

Now we wait and stirring it often until it starts to release the fat.

Stir the thing

It takes a while, so do your laundry or drink a coffee ?☕ also stir the thing

It’s getting good when it looks like this

Stir the thing

Aaaand it’s done when it looks like this

Stir the thing

Turn off the heat and get a sieve and 2 bowls ready. Be careful because it’s extremely hot and you don’t want to burn yourself!

Pour the whole thing through the sieve and leave the cracklings there for a few minutes so the fat can dripping off from it into the bowl.

That’s it, wait until the crackling and the fat are cooled down, then sprinkle some salt on it have a slice of Gluten-free bread and spring onion or tomato with the crackling. You can use the fat for cooking, making roasts etc. It’s lovely!

This was my breakfast ❤️❤️
